Dr. Sandra Alexander has had an impressive first-term on the Guilford County Board of Education as an At-large member.

Instructional Accomplishments:

-Championed the establishment of the UNC-G Middle College as a high school option  for students interested in achieving career readiness in health care fields.

-Partnered with corporate contacts to support the joint $850,000 fundraising  campaign for the new STEM Early College at NC A & T State University.

-Aggressively promoted a science and technology theme for the new McNair  Elementary and inspired both staff and community to adopt the theme.

Career and Technical Education:

-Partnered with a local nonprofit organization to expose students to high  paying jobs by visiting TIMCO.

Athletics:

-Persuaded her fellow board members to approve youth bowling as a sports  option in the 15 traditional high schools in Guilford County. Soon the  500 plus students in bowling clubs throughout the school district can  favorably compete for over $6 million in college scholarships given  annually to young bowlers across the nation.
